So while 2018 was better than most years, I can’t decide yet if it was the best year. I’ll have to wait until the end of this year to see how it ranks among other years, but
Highs
- I applied to seven universities, and got accepted to ALL of them (one being UCLA, of which I chose in the end!)
- Got my first job (test assistant)
- Got to go to Disneyland with an old friend
- Got a second job (cashier at a bakery)
- Got an Associates Degree, ending community college with a 3.5 GPA
- Went to the Hollywood Bowl and saw Arctic Monkeys perform live
- the only downside to this is that I attended with a total stranger from my school…
- Won tickets to Demon Dayz in Pico Rivera and saw Gorillaz/Damon Albarn live
- Went to a bar for the first time in my life?
Lows
- Didn’t get my driver’s license like I’d been planning to.
- Ended my first quarter at UCLA pretty weakly.
- Got a B+ in my theater course…that class wasn’t even difficult, and I have no idea how far away I was from an A. I was just disappointed that I didn’t get the A when I felt like I gave it my best shot.
- I got a C+ in my sociology course. I struggled with it, but I knew it was doable. But I still could have put in more effort than I gave.
- I also had to drop a course because it was just overwhelming me and I felt like I was going to fail anyway. But I felt awful because here I am, supposed to be at the best school, among the best…and I can’t handle a class. Oh, god.
- It just made me feel worse when some people I’d met that quarter (including someone I knew from high school) were flexing their straight A’s…all I could think of was “HOW?!”
- Didn’t really make any new friends. And I can feel my older friendships are almost nonexistent at this point.
POINT 1: If your curious what schools I applied to, they’re these:
- CSU LA
- CSU Long Beach
- CSU Northridge
- UC Santa Cruz
- UC Irvine
- UCLA
- …and I’m blanking on the 7th one? Not sure why.
How was your year? What are some of your goals for this year?
